What is hypnosis? Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation and focused attention.

Can anyone be hypnotised? Anybody can be hypnotised (except where there is a severe mental disablement), as long as they allow themselves to be. Nobody can be hypnotised against their will.

Are any drugs or tablets used? None whatsoever.

Will I be aware of what’s happening? Yes. In fact your senses are heightened.

Will I be asleep? No, you are simply relaxed. Your eyes may be closed to help your relaxation.

Is hypnosis safe? Completely. Hypnosis is a proven therapeutic aid, is completely natural, non-invasive and carries none of the side effects of drugs.

How many sessions will I need? Simpler problems, like smoking, exam nerves, etc usually require a single session. The more deep-rooted problems require Analytical Therapy which usually takes between 6-8 weekly sessions (maximum of 12).

Can I be influenced to do anything against my will or nature while under hypnosis? No. In fact you would immediately be ‘shocked’ out of the hypnotic relaxed state if any such action was suggested to you.

Can ‘normal’ people be hypno-analysed? Not only can be, but arguably should be. Analysis gives you an amazing insight into yourself, which no other therapy can equal in such a short time.

What about medical problems? As with all therapies, if there are existing medical problems, it is essential that you consult your GP first.

How long do sessions last? Sessions usually last for about 50 minutes.

Why do some therapists take more than one session for smoking cessation? Therapists use different methods and approaches. The techniques that we use are designed for single sessions to help you quickly and easily.

How do I know I will be safe? You have many safeguards, as the hypnotherapist working at the clinic is very professional in outlook and approach. This means that she has undergone formal training and is a member of the professional body the IAH, which has stringent requirements.

Will my visit be confidential? All your personal details and treatments will be kept strictly confidential between you and your therapist. Confidentiality is taken very seriously
